Hymn of the Good Shepherd
The guardian lets in the shepherd, And the sheep listen to his voice Because he calls them one by one, And leads them all out of the pen.
The expert shepherd he guides them And all his sheep follow him: His voice is familiar to them They gather round when he calls them.
My flock has been scattered all over Like sheep without a shepherd: No-one looks for them on the mountain, And no-one bothers about them.
My flock has become a prey: Its pasture has now been trampled. Its water has now been muddied And hired men have come instead.
Jesus says to the gathered people: 'Truly I am the good shepherd. I have come to take all my sheep And those who listen to my voice'.
I lay down my life for my sheep They are sick, they are suffering and lost They'll be gathered in one single fold: There will be just one flock and one shepherd.
