Dear user,
this week 128 refugees from Syria arrived to Italy through the humanitarian corridors. We went to welcome them in the Airport of Rome: they escaped from Homs, Aleppo, Hasakah and other cities destroyed by the war.
"Humanitarian corridors are the answer of the civil society to the war in Syria", said Andrea Riccardi, the founder of the Community of Sant'Egidio. We are proud of this answer, for which we thank all those who support this project.
Thanks on behalf of Mahmud, who could finally hug his wife, parents and brothers who were trapped in Syria. Thanks on behalf of Dani, who could see his parents after four years. Thanks also on behalf of Nja, Ahmed and the many children who now can go to school again.
We will continue to work to help the many families that seek peace. In the meanwhile, we would like to share with you the joy of these people saved from the war.
Pictures and videos of refugees arrival to Fiumicino Airport are available in our website.
See you soon!
The friends of Sant'Egidio
