Orthodox Metropolitan, Romanian Patriarchate

[1947, Sambata (Rumania)]

He has done his studies at the Theological Institute of Sibiu, and obtained a doctorate at the Theological Institute of Bucharest (1973)

After his priestly ordination in 1969, he has been the parish priest and spiritual assistant in Sibiu, and later professor in Liturgy a the Theological Institute of Sibiu (1985-1996).

In 1996 he became Bishop of Caransebes, and he has been elevated to the grade of Metropolitan in 2005.

He has a vast experience in the field of ecumenical dialogue. He has participated to several editions of the International Meetings of Religion and Peace of the Community of Sant’Egidio, and he was one of the main organizers of the important ecumenical meeting at Sibiu in September 2007.
