  ROME - " The human and existential periphery in the light of the Gospel " is the theme of a day of study and reflection, organised by the Community of Sant'Egidio and aimed at deepening cooperation between Orthodox and Catholics on the way of charity. The meeting will be attended by founder of the Community Andrea Riccardi and president Marco Impagliazzo .

In four work sessions, on Friday, 21 March, at the headquarters in Via della Paglia 

14/b, leaders of the Catholic Church such as Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio, president of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts and Bishop of Frosinone Ambrogio Spreafico, from the Russian Orthodox Church, from Moscow (Metropolitan Juvenalij , Bishop Panteleimon , chairman of the Synodal department for charity), from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from Kiev (bishop Iona), from the patriarch of Romania and other Orthodox Churches of Egypt and Greece. The last study session will be dedicated to some of the figures of the twentieth century witnesses of charity , including the blessed Pino Puglisi, the parish priest killed by the mafia in Palermo in 1993, Sister Magdeleine of the Little Sisters of Jesus, and Seraphim of Sarov Orthodox mystic that witnessed the great Russian spirituality .

The meeting will take place while the Orthodox churches are engaged in the preparation of the Pan Orthodox Council, which will be convened in Constantinople in 2016 under the chairmanship of Patriarch Bartholomew.
