Nice, Sant'Egidio: Solidarity and closeness to the French people

To defend innocent life, to counter those that want to undermine the roots of living together, to work to stop the conflicts in the Middle East and Africa

The Community of Sant'Egidio shares the grief of the French people in front of the extremely serious attack that hit the city of Nice last night. The death of so many innocent victims, including many children, forces everyone to stop and express solidarity and closeness, recollection and prayer in memory of those that lost their lives in a senseless violence logic, which aims to undermine the roots of living together.

In the face of terror that hits Europe again, the Communities of Sant'Egidio, wherever in the world, feel the need to intensify their work to defend the lives of the innocent and the weakest. We feel, in particular, the urgent need to stop the too many wars that, in the Middle East and Africa, are the cause of tensions and conflicts that can no longer be considered local and distant, but they dramatically become close affecting all our societies.
