You learn a lot of things at the Peace Schools of the Community of Sant'Egidio: for many children around the world – and in Italy for many Roma children – they are a real help for success at school.
And you also learn to honour and respect the elderly. So, on one hot summer’s day, a group of young Roma from Scampia, an ill-reputed area of Naples – organised a party for the elderly residents at the San Giuseppe Institute of Villaricca. Young Roma and elderly folk together: the pictures of the party speak volumes. Not an accumulation of “problems”, but an unleashing of solidarity.
