In Pakistan on 8 August, a Christian man condemned to death was granted an annulment of his sentence, thanks to the action of the Community of Sant’Egidio of Sargodha which, in collaboration of the parish priest of the city, convinced the family of the victim to pardon him. This, according to the law in force in Pakistan, is sufficient to provide occasion for an annulment of the death penalty in the High Court of Justice.
The man, 35, with a wife and two children, was accused of homicide. This was his second condemnation in the past two years. Now, thanks to the Community’s reconciliatory action, his life has been saved.
