printable version

On 4 October 2012, an independent Jury of Experts assessed the 38 singafrika! applications. All products were deemed extremely good and the Jurors had some difficulty in identifying the winners. All songs show the living hope in Africa for a future of peace.

The Jury finally assigned the Singafrika 2012 Music Awards as follows:
 www.singafrika.org

First prize. ''31: Rainbow Colors, written and performed by the Community of Lilongwe (Malawi). A compelling and catchy music through which is tackled the theme of war as "mother of all poverty". LISTEN

Second prize. ''16: Unissons nous, written and performed by the Community of Goma (Democratic Republic of Congo). A beautiful melody speaking of unity among human beings against tribalism, hatred, division.. LISTEN

Third prize. ''30: La paix est as possible, written and performed by the Community of Bujumbura (Burundi). It is a lively music, almost Caribbean. The lyrics indicate a new pathway for all those countries still affected by war. LISTEN

The web prize (the most voted song from www.singafrika.org) is assigned to: ''15: C’est possible la paix, written and performed by the Community of Goma (Democratic Republic of Congo). A fine music and a highly motivated composition that accompanies a text on the need of peace for the peoples of Africa LISTEN

The jury also awarded two “Special July awards” to: ''23: Todos pela paz. Written and performed by the Community of Beira (Mozambique). A trendy African hip hop, describing the tragedy of mob violence (“linchamento”). LISTEN

“24 - Sant’Egidio inasaidia”, written and performed by the Community of Bukavu (Democratic Republic of Congo) and the street children of that town. The very valuable melody and rhythm describes the plight (a true story) of Bukavu’s street children, saved by the Sant’Egidio from forced imprisonment. LISTEN
