The Community of Sant'Egidio expresses its support for all those who, at this difficult time, work for reconciliation in the Central African Republic.
Sant'Egidio follows with particular attention the peacemaking work between the religious communities developed in a context of serious personal risk by Archbishop of Bangui Dieudonné Nzapalainga, Imam Omar Kobin Layama and Pastor Nicolas Guerekoyame Gbangou. Their travel in many cities across the country to promote reconciliation testify, forcefully, the long tradition of coexistence between religious and ethnic communities in the Central African Republic and clearly say that no one can legitimately use religion as a justification for violence.
Sant'Egidio continues its work in favour of the pacification of the country and of an inclusive political dialogue.
