Preparations continue for Peace is the Future. Sunday at 5.00 pm, the Opening Assembly at the Stadsschouwburg theater in the heart of Antwerpen. There, along with the founder of Sant'Egidio Andrea Riccardi, will speak other personalities such as the European Council President Van Rompuy and writer Zygmunt Bauman.
Particularly expected the intervention of Vian Dakheel, member of the Iraqi parliament belonging to the Yazidi community. She will speak about the dramatic situation in Iraq, focusing on the Yazidi community harshly persecuted.
"Peace is a workshop, open to all", said John Paul II in Assisi in 1986. Representatives of the world's great religions will discuss on the contribution that religions can bring to peace. Among them Argentine Rabbi Abraham Skorka and the Grand Mufti of Egypt Shawki Ibrahim Abdel-Karim Allam.
