In March, Mozambique has been hit by Cyclone Idai, killing hundreds of people and living thousands stranded. At present, population is also dealing with the cholera outbreak, due to the damages caused to water and sanitation systems. During one of the recent general audiences, Pope Francis called for support to all those affected: "To these beloved populations I express my pain and my closeness. I entrust the many victims and their families to the mercy of God. I implore comfort and support for those affected by this disaster".

Mira Gianturco (Bravo!) and Stefano Orlando (dream) are telling us more about the current tragic situation and what Sant’Egidio is tirelessly doing to save lives in Mozambique. It is the first time Mozambique has been hit by two cyclone in the same season. This area urgently needs international assistance. It is hoped, Pope Francis visit to the people in Mozambique in September will help to meet this problems.
