Following the examples of Italy, France and Belgium, a new Humanitarian Corridor will be opened in Andorra. The model of the Humanitarian Corridor has already welcomed and integrated more then 1,500 refugees fleeing from war. On the 8th May, at the Principality Statehouse, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between the Home Secretary, the Foreign Ministry and the Community of Sant’Egidio allowing the arrival of Syrian refugees from Lebanon. The Principality of Andorra recently approved a specific law to authorize the entry into the country for humanitarian reason.
Spain and France will guarantee the safe passage of refugees into their airports - like the case of Italy welcoming a group of refugees hosted by the Republic of San Marino. The protocol promises the arrival, for the first year, of 20 refugees living "in conditions of vulnerability”. The Principality will deal with hospitality and basic services while the Community of Sant'Egidio will provide training for those in charge of the care network and, more generally, the inclusion of refugees into the local society.
