South Sudan: Sant'Egidio's work for peace and reconciliation continues

A delegation from the National Pre-Transitional Committee has recently been in Rome at the invitation of the Community of Sant'Egidio and the South Sudan Council of Churches for talks on the process of national reconciliation in progress in the country. Following the peace agreement signed in Addis Ababa on September 12, 2018 and supported personally by Pope Francis, who last April brought together the main South Sudanese political and religious authorities in Santa Marta for a spiritual retreat, the country is growing waiting for the work of the National Pre-Transitional Committee, composed of ministers of the Juba government and representatives of all opposition political forces.

The delegation, which was received at the Vatican by Msgr. Richard Paul Gallagher, Secretary for the Relations with States, will issue a statement to the press at 3 pm in Sant’Egidio.
