Andrea Riccardi meets The president of the Republic of Mozambique Felipe Jacinto Nyusi

The founder of Sant'Egidio expressed the closeness of the community to the people at Mozambique during this difficult phase of political and military tension.

On 7 July Andrea Riccardi and the delegation of the community met with the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi. During the meeting, which was held in an atmosphere of great cordiality, the President expressed appreciation for the role, which he described as historic, the Community of Sant'Egidio played in the negotiating process that led to the signing of the peace agreement of 4 October 1992.

During the meeting have been reminded the Community's activities in Mozambique, such as the DREAM program, which has treated about 140,000 AIDS patients, the BRAVO program for birth registration of children, and the many initiatives in favor of the children and the poorest that were realized by the many Community of Sant'Egidio present throughout the country.

Andrea Riccardi expressed the closeness of the Community to the Mozambican people in this difficult period of political and military tension, and offered the good offices of the Community of Sant'Egidio to support the efforts for dialogue for peace. The thanks and best wishes of the President concluded the meeting, which was held in an atmosphere of great cordiality.
