THE ALLIANCE BETWEEN THE CHILDREN AND THE ELDERS OF KIVU WHO ARE CELEBRATING TOGETHER THE JUBILEE OF MERCY

The pilgrimages of the Communities of Sant'Egidio in Bukavu, Uvira, and Goma are a bridge that brings different generations together

From July 19 to 26, the Communities of Sant'Egidio of Uvira, Bukavu, and Goma, which are located in the Kivu region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, celebrated the Jubilee of Mercy together with children and the elderly. The passage through the Holy Door was an opportunity to renew the alliance between generations, specifically between the young and the old ones. It is a way to overcome those walls that still isolate so many people in the suburbs of African cities.

In an area that is still so marked by violence and ethnic conflicts, the Community of Sant'Egidio operates every day to build peace through works of mercy.
