A NEW YEAR BEGINS FOR THE CHILDREN OF THE MUGUNGA REFUGEE CAMP AT THE SANT’EGIDIO SCHOOL

A new year has begun for the 193 children of the school "Floribert Bwana Chuy", which was built by the Community of Sant'Egidio in the refugee camp of Mugunga that is near Goma.

Each child received a kit of notebooks, pens, and other school supplies to resume classes. There was even great enthusiasm among the young people of the sixth class, where they are working with great commitment to allow all the children to continue their studies at high school by participating as private students in the state exams.

The children are growing, and with them also the school: thanks to the contribution of the Italian Cooperation, this year the renovation of the old wooden classrooms will be completed and they will be replaced with new masonry classrooms. A more stable academy that represents a sign of hope not only for the Mugunga camp but for all the kids in this region of Congo, which is exhausted by war and conflict and aspires to grow in a culture of peace
