Synod - Chinese Bishops visiting Sant’Egidio and attending the evening prayer in St Maria in Trastevere

On 10th October, the two Chinese bishops participating in the Synod, which follows the agreement recently signed between the Holy See and the People's Republic of China, visited the Community of Sant'Egidio and took part in the evening prayer in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere.

Msgr Giuseppe Guo Jincai, Bishop of Chende, and Msgr John Baptist Yang Xiaoting, Bishop of Yan'an, first visited the soup kitchen for the poor and then attended the evening prayer of the Community, which was completed with the invocation of Our Lady of Sheshan, Mother of China.

To the end, Msgr. Xaoting greeted the Community in Italian by expressing both the joy for the Pope's invitation to the Synod, in unity with the universal Church and his gratitude for the Community's friendship and prayer. “We need your companionship and prayer, because the Church is one, holy, catholic and apostolic” and he concluded: ”We prayed together tonight and we felt the love of God”.
