The news of the barbaric assassination in Congo of the Italian ambassador Luca Attanasio, (who was just 43 years old), and his carabiniere escort, Vittorio Iacovacci (who was just 30 years old), was followed by a flood of condolences. The assault on the UN convoy near Goma, which was done by a group of militiamen, reminded the public opinion that there is an Italy that works in Africa and for Africa.
