THE PAINTING ON THE PEACE IN MOZAMBIQUE

To the extraordinary peace process for Mozambique, held in Sant'Egidio for two years and concluded with the signing of the Rome Accords on 4 October 1992, the artist Stefano Di Stasio dedicated a large painting, kept in the Sala della Pace of Sant'Egidio, inspired by the passage from Isaiah 11, 6: "The wolf will dwell together with the lamb; the leopard will lie down next to the kid; the calf and the young lion will graze together ... ".
The protagonists of the negotiation process are depicted, hugging each other, in front of the church of Sant'Egidio while the dove of peace flies over the African clouds. Below, the lion and the lamb live together while Peace burns weapons forever.
