On Thursday the 19th July, Andrea Riccardi visited Jean Vanier, in his home in Trosly-Breuil near Paris. The visit, marked by the long friendship with the founder of L'Arche, grew in both the common sensibility for the poor, the Gospel and the commitment of people with mental disabilities. Jean Vanier has dedicated his entire life to people with disabilities, by promoting their dignity as people and as Christians and creating for them familiar spaces. He found in Sant’Egidio a common feeling that has developed over the years in many moments of joint commitment and encounter. Particularly, the Movement of “The Friends”, has warmly welcomed groups of "L'arche" and "Foi et Lumiere” in a number of occasions, such as the Jubilee of Mercy and their anniversaries.
