IRAQ, THE COMMISSION FOR NATIONAL RECONCILIATION IS AT SANT’EGIDIO: THERE IS AN AGREEMENT ON THE COMMON AGENDA FOR THE NATIONAL PACIFICATION

Iraq's Supreme Commission for National Reconciliation, at the mandate of the President of the Republic Fūʾād Maʿṣūm, is visiting Sant'Egidio until tomorrow. In particular, since April 12, the President of the Republic has been participating in a series of meetings in Rome, which were requested by the Community. This has been occurring due to his long experience in the field of mediation, civil and interreligious dialogue, and respect for minorities.

The visit was carried out through in-depth seminars on reconciliation together with institutional meetings with the Italian state, the Holy See, and the diplomatic representations that are situated in Italy.

In the end, the visit led to the drafting of a common agenda that intends to favor national reconciliation. It even encouraged the drafting of a collaboration agreement between the Supreme Presidential Commission and the Community of Sant'Egidio.
