SANT’EGIDIO’S COMMITMENT TO IRAQ CARRIES ON: A STUDY DAY WITH THE COMMITTEE FOR RECONCILIATION IN BRUSSELS

Today, a delegation from the Supreme Committee for National Reconciliation in Iraq is in Brussels. It was invited by the Community of Sant'Egidio for a series of meetings at the Belgian Foreign Ministry and the European Parliament.

Along with the meetings that were being held today, many study days will occur in the context of the collaboration that was established between the Community of Sant'Egidio and the Supreme Committee for National Reconciliation in Iraq. For this reason, in June, a Memorandum of Understanding had been signed with the basic outlines for an action that is aimed at rebuilding peace and fostering cohabitation among the various ethnic, social, and confessional components of the Iraqi population. The MOU has already been implemented and it was shown during the recent visit to Iraq of a delegation of the Community who delivered humanitarian aid. READ NEWS>>
Therefore, this meeting represents a further step to raise awareness of the important reconciliation process in Iraq.
