Europeans for Peace: youths for a positive globalization of solidarity

The meeting involved 250 young people from 14 European countries

The two day "Europeans For Peace" joined in Rome youths from 14 countries who with the Community of Sant'Egidio try to offer an alternative to an excluding Europe.
Isolation and loneliness risk being the only ideals that guide everyone's life. Meeting the poor, that is to say a solidarity experienced at first hand, becomes the alternative, even in the adulthood.

They are the Generation Y, born between the 80's and the 90's. They lived a growing European dream, the advent of the web and now they are experiencing a divided world. The question is how to offer an alternative to a globalization of indifference, in a competitive world in which the room for solidarity appears to be finished.

It was a great moment of actual building of peace, as the testimonies showed: personal friendship with the poor and stories of the war, told by friends from Ukraine and Russia that go beyond the hostility meeting and praying together. And also from Syria and Africa, from whom is integrating in the society of our continent, eager to share the new dream of a Europe without walls, well expressed by humanitarian corridors.
