From 5 to 7 February a group of the Community of Sant'Egidio from Italy and Congo visited the refugee camps of Goma, to organize the distribution of the goods that have been collected till now.
Although the political and military situation has stabilized, still in all the region of the North Kivu about two million refugees are estimated, about 800,000 of whom in the zone of Goma.
The delegation of the Community has chosen the field of MUGUNGA 2, one of the most extended, where at present about 4,000 familiar units are present (not less than 20,000 persons), to undertake a widespread distribution of tents and clothes, that will begin within the end of February.
It is planned moreover to organize near the field a school for the children with 6 classes (a whole primary cycle). Since the organization of the refugee camp reflects the territorial distribution of the evacuees, the school should welcome children coming from the same village, so as to favor, when the conditions will allow it, the reinsertion in the territory of origin.
