No stop for the commitment of the Community of Sant'Egidio to improve the standards of living of the refugees of the conflict of North Kivu, in Congo.
After Easter, in Goma, the fourth distribution of tents, food and tools, was carried out, thus reaching over 60% of the families of the refugee camp of Mugunga 2. Within the end of May, with two more distributions, we forecast to complete the supply to all, even if the number of refugees continues to increase. The humanitarian emergency, in fact, is anything but finished. Although the scarse media coverage, clashes and oppression on the civilians by the different armed groups still continue.
In these months the intense activities for the construction of the school for the refugee children went on, on the foundation that had been
inaugurated in February. The images that we publish show the construction almost finished. Only the windows are lacking. They are ready and just some difficulties of transportation delayed the installation, that is expected within days.
Therefore, in a little while, after some necessary bureaucratic checks, the children will be able to return to school.
WE ADDRESS AN APPEAL TO ALL FOR SENDING
