Her name is Nazarè F.C., she’s five years old and she comes from Bissau. A severe heart malformation, complicated by a series of attacks of malaria, endemic in the country, made her situation extremely critical. She has been operated at the Paediatric Hospital in Padua, thanks to the collaboration of the Community of Sant’Egidio with the Paediatric Ward and the Veneto Region. This collaboration has already helped five Guinean children to receive treatment impossible to find in their country. For many doctors, nurses and voluntary workers the children’s arrival has become an opportunity to help Africa, by knowing more about it. |
