"I am particularly pleased to greet the leaders of the Community of Sant'Egidio, especially those who have come from Africa and Latin America, where members of the Community act with courage to proclaim the Gospel" .

With these words, spoken in French, Pope Benedict XVI at the end of the Angelus in St. Peter's Square, spoke to representatives of the Community of Sant'Egidio from 41 countries in Africa and Latin America, which these days are gathered in Rome for an international conference on the theme "I announce a great joy, which shall be to all people".
