The sixth edition of the St.Ulrich European Prize will be awarded to Andrea
Riccardi and to the Community of Sant'Egidio today. The prize is awarded
every two years to men and women who have distinguished themselves by their
committment in favour of peace and of the building of a Europe rooted in
Christian values. Among the motivations, we read: "since its founding in
1968, the Community has become a widespread civil movement, committed in the
promotion of a solidarity civilization, in reconciliation and peace: it
lives a real friendship with poor elderly, foreigners, handicapped people,
children and young people". |
